Nitish Kumar’s political ally and one of the staunchest critics of the prime minister, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, too will be present on-stage at the function to mark Prakash Parv, the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh.
Apart from the programmes at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where a makeshift Gurudwara has been set up, the PM will also be releasing special commemorative stamps to mark the occasion.
Tight security amid threat from Khalistani group
Given the fact that the last time Modi visited Gandhi Maidan on 27 October, 2013, for the Lok Sabha poll campaign, a series of explosions triggered by Indian Mujahideen terrorists, rocked the surrounding areas. The bombings led to large-scale criticism of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, who was accused of failing to manage things properly.
Tight security has been put in place which is an imperative given the fact that the visit of the prime minister comes amid a heightened threat from Khalistani terror groups.
