The Lucknow administration has denied permission to stage a play in the city later this evening as the authorities found the script to be a lampoon on Chief Minister Mayawati.
Going through the script before granting permission to stage the play, the administration realised that the central character of the play, Maya, had too many similarities with Chief Minister Mayawati.
Maya, the princess in the play, has a fascination for expensive sandals, elephants and money.
Fearing that the play may end up upsetting the Bahujan Samaj Party cadres as well as snowball into a huge political controversy in the poll-bound state, the administration decided against the staging of the play.
