Making his first appearance at an election rally at Jamnagar in Gujarat, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi today took on Chief Minister Narendra Modi saying that the voice of the aam aadmi (common man) is ignored.

“In Gujarat the voice of the common man is ignored. The current government and the chief minister do not want to hear your voice. He only cares about his dreams. A true leader adopts his people’s dreams,” Gandhi told at the rally.

The Gandhi scion also referred to corruption in course of his speech.

“As far as corruption is concerned, RTI helped unveil the truth that was hidden in Gujarat. Congress was sure that through RTI many facts will come out in the open. We launched RTI to empower people,” he said.

Incidentally, Gandhi opened his campaign on the last day of campaigning before the first phase of polls.

The state goes to polls on 13 and 17 December. The counting of votes is on 20 December.
