New Delhi: BJP Lok Sabha member Varun Gandhi was on Monday blessed with a baby girl.

A statement from the 34-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party leader's office said the baby has been named Anasuya.

"It is with the deepest joy that I share that Yamini and I have been blessed with a beautiful daughter. Our child was born this afternoon in New Delhi," said a statement signed Feroze Varun Gandhi.

Varun Gandhi, son of late Sanjay and Maneka Gandhi, married Yamini Roy Chaudhary, a graphic designer, in March 2011.

Anasuya is the third great-grandchild of late prime minister Indira Gandhi. Varun's cousin Priyanka Vadra, daughter of late Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, has two children.
