The earth is a beautiful place and NASA astronaut Terry Virts is giving us photographic evidence that our planet looks even better from up above.
Virts has been regularly tweeting photographs of earth from space aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
A few days ago, he was over India and
tweeted absolutely stunning images
of the Ganges, thunderstorms, Delhi and the Himalayas. From then he has moved to Australia and uploaded a magnificent photograph of an aurora.
An aurora is a natural display of light on the sky predominantly seen in high latitude regions and is usually seen in a a burst of bright colours. But seen from space, it looks even more gorgeous.

Virts also tweeted a vine video of the aurora, saying that he wished he was quicker with the camera, as then he would have been right above the light.
This particular phenomenon was dazzling green in colour and looked nothing short of a festival firework show.
I wish I’d been two minutes quicker with the camera. We were right above this and surrounded by green! #spa... https://t.co/vmRapt3f9B
