On Friday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended Independence Day wishes to the nation as he reiterated his vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’. The Prime Minister took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to extend his greetings as India celebrates its 79th Independence Day.
“Wishing everyone a very happy Independence Day. May this day inspire us to keep working even harder to realise the dreams of our freedom fighters and build a Viksit Bharat. Jai Hind!” the Indian premier wrote in his post on Friday.
Later in the day, he will hoist the national flag and deliver his 12th consecutive address to the nation. The Indian prime minister’s address to the country would come from the ramparts of the iconic monument.
All about today’s celebration
This year’s Independence Day celebration would carry the theme ‘Naya Bharat’ reflecting the government’s vision to achieve ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, the prime minister will be received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, MoS Sanjay Seth and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The Defence Secretary would then introduce Lieutenant General Bhavish Kumar, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Delhi area, to the Prime Minister. The success of India’s Operation Sindoor is expected to be celebrated during the Friday celebration.
