Bihar election result 2025 live updates: AIMIM Chief Owaisi thanks voters, urges non-NDA parties to introspect

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday thanked the people of Bihar for ensuring the success of party’s candidates in five assembly constituencies and urged non-NDA parties to introspect.

Owaisi, who extensively campaigned in Bihar in support of his party candidates, also said non-NDA parties should try to address their shortcomings instead of assuming voters would automatically favour them.

AIMIM accepts people’s verdict in Bihar, he said, also congratulating Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his victory in the assembly polls.

Addressing reporters here, he said, “I am grateful to the people of Bihar. Especially, I have been saying from the beginning that RJD would not be able to stop BJP. You can check my speeches. I had said that. Today also, I am appealing to those people in Bihar who have misconception about the ‘MY’ (Muslim and Yadav) combination,” He said that he had voiced concern (before the polls) that NDA was gaining ground in the Bihar, and regretted that his apprehension has now proven right.

In an apparent reference to minority voters in Bihar, he urged them to become “vote takers” rather than just “vote givers”, saying it would help promote leadership among them and also check “communal and fascist forces”.

He added that non-BJP parties like RJD need to examine why they were not able to prevent the BJP’s growth. “Those who feel relieved by abusing him are welcome to do so.” Referring to Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav’s reported comments blaming the rout of ‘Mahagathbandhan” in Bihar on SIR, he said the non-NDA parties should focus on addressing their own weaknesses.

“If you feel that we are big and people would vote for us, it is not going to happen. First of all you have to be humble. If you think that you are a ‘Raja’ and voters are your people, that era has come to an end,” he said.

Bihar election result 2025 live updates: Victory of every Bihari who believes in development, says Amit Shah

Terming the Bihar poll results a “victory of every Bihari”, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said the overwhelming mandate for the NDA is people’s stamp of approval on its work for development, women’s safety and the welfare of the poor.

In a series of posts on X in Hindi, Shah said the people of Bihar have conveyed the mood of the entire nation that the purification of voter lists is essential, and there is no place for politics against it.

The NDA camp has won at least 97 of the 243 Bihar Assembly seats. The BJP won 55 seats and was leading in 35 other constituencies, while its ally JD(U) secured 33 seats and was ahead in 51 other constituencies, according to the Election Commission.

The opposition INDIA bloc, on the other hand, has won only 11 seats so far. RJD bagged eight seats and was leading in 17 other constituencies, while Congress won one seat and was ahead in five. CPI(ML) Liberation won one seat and was leading in one other constituency. CPI(M) also won one seat.

Shah said that in the last 11 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked wholeheartedly for Bihar and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has worked to pull the state out of the darkness of ‘jungle raj’.

“A heartfelt salute to the people of ‘Bihar Bhumi’, the protectors of knowledge, hard work and democracy,” he said.

The senior BJP leader said this overwhelming mandate is people’s stamp of approval on the NDA’s resolute service towards development, women’s safety, good governance, and the welfare of the poor in Bihar.

“Every single vote cast by the people of Bihar is a symbol of trust in the Modi government’s policy against infiltrators who threaten India’s security and resources, and against those who support them. The public has given a strong answer to those who protect infiltrators for the sake of vote-bank politics,” he said.

Bihar election result 2025 live updates: Nitish Kumar will remain Bihar CM, says Chirag Paswan

Riding on the clear trends of Bihar Assembly polls which pointed towards a landslide victory of the NDA alliance over the Mahagathbandhan, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan said on Friday that he firmly believed that Nitish Kumar would continue to remain the state’s chief minister.

Paswan attributed the “arrogance” of the Tejaswai Yadav-Rahul Gandhi-led opposition alliance for its thumping defeat and stated that the people’s “faith in the unity of NDA partners” was the reason behind their convincing win.

“I firmly believe that Nitish Kumar will remain the Bihar chief minister. Arrogance is the cause for the opposition’s humiliating loss and it is the sole factor that led to its downfall,” Paswan told reporters here.

Bihar election result 2025 live updates: Prashant Kishor, man behind many leaders’ electoral success bites dust in own fight

Before launching into the Bihar assembly elections, the celebrated former poll strategist Prashant Kishor had made two predictions, one about his Jan Suraaj Party and the other about the JD(U), of which he is a former national vice president.

His prediction of “arsh par ya farsh par” (either sky high or down to dust) for his own party has, much to his chagrin, come true, though JD(U) cadres, including its supreme leader Nitish Kumar, the Bihar Chief Minister, may ridicule him for the forecast that the party will win “not more than 25 seats”.

The JD(U)’s tally seems tipped to cross 80, its best performance since 2010 when the party had crossed the three-digit mark, while contesting a much larger number of seats compared with the 101 it did this time.

Kishor, on his part, has his task cut out. His party, which had tried to contest all 243 seats on its own and blamed top BJP leaders like Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the failure of some of its candidates to turn up for filing of nomination papers, has failed to open its account.

In most of the seats, Jan Suraaj Party candidates seem likely to forfeit their deposits.

The 47-year-old had launched the party, with much fanfare, about a year ago, after a “pada yatra” that saw him marching across the length and breadth of Bihar over several months.

Although Kishor is often pilloried for having wrongly predicted that the BJP was likely to cross the 300-mark in the Lok Sabha elections a year ago, he has always maintained that in a country where a large section of the population is barely able to keep body and soul together, there shall always remain a space for the opposition.

“It is not the opposition, but the parties in the opposition, which are weak in this country”, has been one of the most insightful remarks made by the IPAC founder, whose prowess as a poll strategist has benefitted leaders of as diverse hues as Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, Jagan Mohan Reddy, Uddhav Thackeray and M K Stalin.

Not all his assignments, in his previous avatar, have resulted in success for his clients, a fact which, according to his critics, Kishor does not like to admit.

With age very much on his side and the opposition INDIA bloc having been battered in Bihar, there is a virgin territory for Kishor and his Jan Suraaj Party to explore.

But the Jan Suraaj Party is not the first party in which he was active as a leader. His prowess in managing elections had endeared him to Nitish Kumar, who, after returning as Chief Minister in 2015, appointed him as an advisor with the rank of a cabinet minister.

Three years later, he joined the JD(U) and quickly became the party’s national vice president, triggering speculations that Kumar saw in him a successor to his own legacy.

However, just over a year later, Kishor was ousted for openly lambasting Kumar’s equivocal stand on the Citizenship Amendment Act, which had evoked protests in several parts of the country.

Soon after his expulsion, Kishor announced the launch of an amorphous campaign, “Baat Bihar Ki”, which was a non-starter.

After earning plaudits for handling the immensely successful campaign of Mamata Banerjee who in 2021 returned as West Bengal CM for a third term, Kishor toyed with the idea of “reviving” the Congress by sharing a blueprint with the top leadership of the grand old party. However, the deal never materialised.

Bihar Election Results 2025: Record voter turnout and exit poll predictions

Bihar saw an impressive voter turnout of 66.91% in the second and final phase of its Assembly elections on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, this marks the highest voter participation in the state since 1951.

Early exit polls released after the conclusion of voting have largely projected a clear win for the ruling NDA alliance, led by the BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U). The surveys suggest the alliance is set to comfortably surpass the majority mark of 122 seats in Bihar’s 243-member Legislative Assembly.

In contrast, the RJD-led opposition coalition, Mahagathbandhan, is expected to secure 100 seats or fewer, according to the exit poll forecasts.

The official schedule from the Election Commission of India states that vote counting and the release of trends for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will begin at 8:00 AM on Friday, November 14, with final results anticipated later in the evening.

This election has drawn nationwide attention due to the high stakes, with political analysts closely monitoring the competition between Nitish Kumar’s NDA and Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD-led INDIA alliance. The outcome will not only decide the next government of Bihar but could also influence the broader political landscape in India.

Voters, parties, and political observers are now waiting eagerly for the Bihar Election Results 2025, which will reveal whether the state opts for continuity under Nitish Kumar or a change in leadership.
