PM Modi chairs council of ministers meet, deliberates on 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision

The council of ministers held a brainstorming session on Sunday over a vision paper for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and a comprehensive action plan for the next five years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the meeting.

Several ministries presented their views in what might be the final conference of this kind before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

According to officials, a 100-day agenda for immediate steps also worked upon for quick implementation after formation of the new Government in May, 2024

The roadmap for Viksit Bharat is a result of more than 2 years of intensive preparation. It involved a Whole of Government approach involving all Ministries & Wide-ranging consultations with State Governments, academia, industry bodies, civil society, scientific organisations and mobilization of youth for seeking their ideas, suggestions and inputs. More than 2700 meetings, workshops and seminars were held at various levels. Suggestions of more than 20 lakh youth were received.

The roadmap for Viksit Bharat has a comprehensive blueprint with clearly articulated national vision, aspirations, goals and action points.

Its goals includes areas like economic growth, SDGs, ease of living, ease of doing business, infrastructure, social welfare, etc.

The task of bringing the ten sectoral visions for Viksit Bharat @2047 together into a single vision was assigned to NITI Aayog.

The objective is for India to become a developed nation by 2047, the year of its 100th anniversary of independence. This vision encompasses a number of ideas, including good governance, environmental sustainability, social progress, and economic growth.

With a GDP of about USD 3.4 trillion, India’s economy currently ranks fifth in the world, behind only the US, China, Japan, and Germany.
