The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Soyab, a resident of Haryana’s Faridabad, for helping Umar Un Nabi — the man identified as the suicide bomber behind Delhi’s Red Fort terrorist attack earlier this month.

The NIA has accused Soyab of harbouring Umar and providing him logistical support before the blast.

Soyab is the seventh accused to be arrested in the case.

A car blew up near Delhi's Red Fort on November 10. The blast killed at least 15 persons and injured around 20 people. The NIA and Delhi Police have named Umar as the bomber and dubbed the act of terror as suicide bombing.

The investigators have linked Umar and the Delhi bombing to a 'white collar' terrorist module stretching from Jammu and Kashmir to Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Hours before the blast, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had announced arrests in the case and disclosed recovery of a cache of explosives and weapons.

Delhi blast plotters kept IED equipment at Soyab’s house: Sources

Sources have said that Muzammil Shakeel Ganai, whom investigators have named as one of the members of the ‘white collar’ module, had kept a grinder and a portable furnace at Soyab’s house, which are believed to have been used to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and their components.

Sources in the NIA told CNN-News 18 that Soyab is an employee of Al-Falah University, which has been linked to multiple accused in the case.

They said that Soyab was aware of the conspiracy and knowingly harboured Umar.

The NIA visited Soyab’s house with Muzammil as they were reconstructing the movement of the accused in the case as part of the investigation.
