Badrinath NH blocked following landslide, pilgrims stranded
A landslip caused by heavy rain near Chhinka in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district shut the Badrinath national highway on Thursday, trapping hundreds of pilgrims.
According to authorities, the stranded pilgrims included those travelling to Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib.
They said that the national route going to Badrinath was blocked by a mountain of debris that had formed on the road as a result of the landslip near Chhinka.
Hundreds of vehicles were left trapped on the route as a result of the severe traffic bottleneck, he claimed.
He stated that efforts are being made to remove the debris and quickly restore traffic along the road.
The stranded pilgrims have received refreshments and food from the Chamoli authorities.
On Wednesday night, the Chamoli area had significant rainfall in several locations.
