Journalist Barkha Dutt has stepped down from her position as Group Editor in NDTV after almost twenty years on the job and is reportedly going to start her own media company. [caption id=“attachment_268924” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] WIkimedia Commons[/caption] Dutt made her mark with her coverage of the Kargil war, and her reporting for NDTV made her a house hold name at a time when the channel was the first 24-hour English news channels in India. While she has faced criticism for her reporting of the 2002 Gujarat riots and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Dutt is also the recipient of several awards including the Indian Television Academy award for Best Talk Show five years in a row and the has also received the Padma Shri. Many on Twitter have been sad to hear of her departure and here’s how they reacted to the news:
If report of @BDUTT leaving @ndtv is true, the company and its news delivery wouldn't hold the same value for me.

Many lamented the loss of not having her in front of the camera.
People want to see you in front of camera not at the back of camera @BDUTT I can't imagine @ndtv without Barkha Dutt....
