Virat Kohli Ranji Trophy comeback LIVE score, Railways vs Delhi: Virat Kohli is expected to bat for the first time in the Ranji Trophy after a gap of 12 years on Friday. Delhi resumed Day 2 of their Ranji Trophy match against Railways at 41/1 with Yash Dhull and Sanat Sangwan batting for them at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Kohli is slotted to bat at No.4 and should come out in the middle if a wicket falls.
Kohli made a return to domestic cricket for the first time since 2012 on Thursday as he was named in Delhi’s playing XI against Railways. With Delhi opting to field first, Kohli spent the Day 1 fielding as thousands of fans packed the stands at the Arun Jaitley Stadium to catch a glimpse of the former India captain.
One fan even managed to breach security and meet Kohli as he bowed down to the former India captain and touched his feet before being escorted away by the security guards.
While the DDCA had estimated around 10,000 fans to show up at the stadium, reports stated that over 15,000 Kohli fans made their way to the stadium with many lining up outside the gate since 5 am in the morning. The Delhi Police also had to resort to lathi charge to control the crowd while a few fans got injured in the chaos at the gates. Luckily no major mishap was reported.
