So far the auctioning of the players has taken place in the normal process, but the auctioneer Mallika Sagar will conduct the accelerated auction on Day 2 of the IPL Auction 2025 to speed up things.
Overall 132 slots are still to be filled across 10 franchises out of a total of 204 spots. 32 players from registration number 84 (now 85) which is Mayank Agarwal until player No. 116 (now 117) in Set No. 17 which is Vijayakanth Viyaskanth will be presented in the traditional auction process. The Day 2 of IPL Auction 2025 will start with set 14 which is of the capped batters 2 (BA2) category. The normal auction process will be followed till set 17 which will include the all-rounders (AL2), wicketkeeper (WK2), fast bowlers (FA2), and spinners (SP2).
Once set 17 is over the remaining players from registration No. 118 to 577 will be auctioned through an accelerated process.
IPL Auction 2025: What is an accelerated auction process?
In the accelerated auction process, the franchises will submit the names of 25 players who will be then auctioned in a fast-tracking phase. This is only one round of the accelerated auction. In the second round, franchises will be asked to name five players each who have gone unsold or unrepresented. These players will then be auctioned followed by the conclusion of the whole process.
