Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered yet another defeat at home following a 28-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 15 of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday. This was their third loss of the season, and their second at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after going down to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) a few days ago.
LSG rode on young Mayank Yadav’s heroics to see off RCB for 153 while the hosts looked to chase down a total of 182. RCB’s batters once again succumbed to pressure and once again, Faf du Plessis and Co have been left with more questions than answers heading into the forthcoming matches.
We now take a look at some top moments from the RCB-LSG clash in Bengaluru:
**KL Rahul returns**After playing LSG game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) as an Impact Player, KL Rahul returned to lead the side against RCB. There were fitness concerns surrounding Rahul, who had sustained a quadriceps injury during the India-England Test series earlier this year.
Rahul, however, had taken part in fitness drills ahead of the RCB game. However, against RCB, the Karnataka batter could not really get going as he managed just 20 runs off 14 balls, including a couple of sixes.
Quinton de Kock stands tall
Rahul and Quinton de Kock put up 53 runs for the first wicket before the Lucknow captain departed. However, despite Rahul’s dismissal, de Kock stood tall and went onto amass 81 runs off 56 deliveries, hitting eight fours and five sixes in the process.

Impact Shorts
More ShortsDe Kock played an entertaining knock, and it was only briefly that boundaries dried up for the South African. During his innings, de Kock also surpassed 3000 runs in the IP L, becoming the third South African, after AB de Villers and Faf du Plessis to do so. De Kock got to his fifty off 36 deliveries. In the 17th over, De Kock looked to loft while aiming to clear the boundary but ended up gifting a catch to Mayank Dagar at long on off Reece Topley’s bowling.
Nicholas Pooran’s quick knock
Coming into bat at number five following the dismissal of Marcus Stoinis in the 14th over, Nicholas Pooran wasted no time in taking on the RCB bowlers. Pooran scored an unbeaten 40 off just 21 deliveries, with one four and five sixes.
All of his sixes came consecutively on two separate occasions. While the West Indian punished Reece Topley for three maximums in the 19th over, Mohammed Siraj was taken to the cleaners in the 20th over, with Pooran striking maximums in the fourth and fifth balls of that over.
Thanks to de Kock and Pooran, LSG posted 181/5 after 20 overs.
Mayank Yadav destroys RCB
Mayank Yadav was the man of the moment (And match) for LSG on Tuesday. The right-arm pacer has consistently bowled with speeds in excess of 150 kmph and once again, against RCB, Mayank was at his absolute best.

Mayank delivered a 151kmph delivery to remove Glenn Maxwell in the sixth over before cleaning up Cameron Green with peach of a delivery in the eighth.
And to remove Rajat Patidar in the 15th over, Mayank Yadav banged in short as Patidar produced a top edge that fell towards Devdutt Padikkal at deep square leg. Mayank finished the match with figures of 3/14 from four overs.
Mahipal Lomror cameo
Mahipal Lomror came out to bat for RCB as an Impact Player when they were reeling at 95/4 in the 13th over. RCB were in a spot of bother that time, but Lomror still produced a worthy cameo, scoring 33 off 13 deliveries. Losing Patidar did not help but Lomror still managed to forge 33 runs with Dinesh Karthik before the latter departed.
30 of those runs came in boundaries, with three fours and as many sixes, but his counterattack came to a halt in the 19th over when he looked to go over long off. It was, however, a flat shot from Lomror and ended up hitting towards Pooran, who took the catch.
