KL Rahul on Tuesday returned to lead the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 15 of IPL 2024 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Rahul had played LSG’s previous game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) as an Impact Player citing some fitness issues, and LSG were led by Nicholas Pooran in that game. On Tuesday, RCB won the toss and opted to field.
Rahul, who scored 15 runs against PBKS, had only returned to competitive cricket earlier in the IPL since recovering from a quadriceps injury that kept him out of the four Tests against England. Ahead of the match against RCB, Rahul had taken part in fitness drills at the nets.

Rahul, who plays domestic cricket for Karnataka and has played for RCB previously, said the atmosphere was a bit “different” this time around. “It is a bit different. Been used to coming here and walking into the home dressing room, bit different when I walk into the visiting dressing room. We have showed character in both games. Everyone is chipping in and that gives you a lot of confidence, we need to keep doing that and keep getting better,” said Rahul.
RCB also made one change, with England’s Reece Topley coming in for West Indian Alzarri Joseph. Joseph has had an underwhelming start to his RCB career, taking just one wicket from three games.
