Pakistan spinner Noman Ali put on a brilliant show on Day 2 of the first Test against South Africa in Lahore, taking 6/112 as the world champions struggled and were bowled out for 269. However, the day made headlines not just for on-field performances, but for commentary controversy linked to former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja.
Raja’s remarks went viral after he joked about Noman Ali’s eyewear. The former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman made fun of Noman’s sunglasses, which created a buzz among fans. “He’s wearing a fancy pair of glasses, Noman Ali. Looks like welding glasses,” Raja said, sending social media into a frenzy with memes and jokes doing rounds.

Ramiz sparks debate with Babar Azam ‘drama’ remark
Earlier, Raja had drawn criticism for comments about former Pakistan captain Babar Azam. During the first innings, when Babar challenged an on-field umpire decision, Raja was heard saying in a viral clip: “Ye out hoga to drama karega” (If he is given out here, he will create drama). Many fans called out the remark, with some even claiming that he meant something else.

Babar, returning after missing the Asia Cup, managed just 23 in the first innings and 42 in the second. He was unable to change Pakistan’s fortunes against South Africa as they were bowled out for 378 and 167 runs in the two innings. South Africa now need 277 runs to claim a win in the first Test.
The Proteas have already scored 51/2 and are 226 runs away from a victory. They still have two more days left in the game.
