Before the Indian cricket team departed for their ODI series in Australia, fans got a glimpse of some warm and heartfelt moments at Delhi airport. The BCCI shared a behind-the-scenes video that quickly went viral, capturing the first interactions between Shubman Gill and the senior players after he took over the ODI captaincy.

The clip shows a touching moment as Gill approached Rohit Sharma, gently placing his hand on the former captain’s back. This is the first time Gill has met Rohit after being named the new ODI captain. There was a lot of buzz on social media regarding Rohit’s removal from the post after the BCCI announced the squad for the Australia series. Many fans even criticised India head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar for taking the captaincy away from Rohit.

Meanwhile, the warm moment between Gill and Rohit shows that everything is fine inside the dressing room. This is also the first time Rohit and Kohli have returned to the national side since winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 nine months ago. They have retired from Tests and T20Is and are available for the 50-over format only.
