Mahendra Singh Dhoni is back in the nets to resume batting practice with the next season of Indian Premier League almost a couple of months away. A video of the former India captain padding up to train in a batting session has gone viral all over the internet.
In the video, Dhoni could be seen as gearing up to bat with pads on. He can be seen wearing his yellow pads which he dons in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Dhoni is also seen having a conversation with Jharkhand State Cricket Association honorary secretary and former Jharkhand batter Saurabh Tiwary.
Dhoni seems ready to bat in the video uploaded by the Jharkhand State Cricket Association on their social media handles.
Dhoni, CSK eye turnaround
The 44-year-old is among the most popular personalities in India and has immense fan following across the cricketing world. He captained the Super Kings to five IPL titles and has handed over reigns to Ruturaj Gaikwad now.
However, last season was a forgettable one for CSK as they finished at the bottom of the table for the first time in IPL history. Dhoni took over as captain midway through the season but that could not turn their campaign around.
Dhoni too had a lacklustre season where he came in to bat as low down the order as number nine and attracted backlash. Dhoni and CSK both are now looking for a good campaign in 2026 with the end of their partnership fast approaching.
The former Indian captain also recently congratulated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for their maiden title victory last year.
“I am a part of CSK, so I can’t imagine any other team winning the IPL trophy. But it was long awaited. They (RCB) played really well. Big congratulations to them," Dhoni said while responding to a query during an event.
