India vs New Zealand 2nd T20 LIVE Score: India and New Zealand face each other in the second T20I of the five-match series in Raipur’s Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium on Friday, January 23. The Men in Blue come into the match with a 1-0 lead after they earned a dominating 48-run victory in the series opener in Nagpur.
Top-ranked T20I batter Abhishek Sharma continued his astonishing form in Nagpur as he slammed a match-winning 84 that came off just 35 balls to power India to a big total. Rinku Singh also returned to the side with a bang, smashing 44 unbeaten runs in just 20 deliveries. Suryakumar Yadav also hit some lusty blows in his innings of 32, signalling that the Indian captain is close to returning to his best.
India eye another dominant win at Raipur
Indian bowlers too were sharp with Yadav also using his all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube to warm them up for the T20 World Cup. The trio of Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah and the top-ranked T20I bowler Varun Chakravarthy looked in good touch and India would want them to continue in the same fashion.
New Zealand had two big positives from the loss in Nagpur as Jacob Duffy and Glenn Phillips left a mark in the series opener. Even as India scored a mammoth 238, Duffy gave only 27 runs in his two overs and picked up a couple of wickets. Phillips waged a lone battle with the bat for the Kiwis, hitting 78 from only 40 balls.
New Zealand will want other bowlers and batters to step up as well in Raipur tonight as India look to dominate another T20 series. Captain Mitchell Santner had a poor day with the ball in the series opener and he would be eager to show his class in the second game.
The series has added significance for both sides with the T20 World Cup starting in almost two weeks from now. India are the defending champions and the favourites to win the title again, while New Zealand are once again the dark horses.
