Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that the government of Pakistan will be taking the final decision on its team’s participation at the upcoming T20 World Cup amid reports of Bangladesh’s ouster from the tournament.
Bangladesh have refused to follow the current schedule and said that they would not travel to India to play their matches. Multiple reports suggest that Bangladesh thus have been ousted from the tournament and Scotland have replaced them in Group C.
Naqvi, who is also the Interior Minister of Pakistan, has said that the International Cricket Council (ICC) is being dictated by one country and that injustice is being meted out to Bangladesh.
Bangladesh treated unfairly, alleges Naqvi
Talking to the media after reports emerged that ICC has communicated their final decision to Bangladesh, Naqvi said that the global body was showing double standards.
“Bangladesh has been treated unfairly. I said the same in the board meeting of the International Cricket Council. You cannot have double standards, where one country can make whatever decision whenever and do the total opposite for another country.
“That is why we have taken the stand that Bangladesh is being treated unfairly and should be allowed to play the World Cup in any case. They are a major stakeholder and this injustice should not be done," Naqvi said.
Waiting for PM’s decision on boycott, says Naqvi
Naqvi also took a veiled jibe at India saying that one country was dictating things in the global body.
“One country is dictating. When the ICC changed venues for Pakistan and India in a favour, then why it was not done for Bangladesh?” asked Naqvi.

“If Pakistan’s government says it won’t play, then (ICC would have to) bring in a 22nd team. But that decision has to be taken by the Pakistan government,” he said.
