KKR were outplayed by Mumbai Indians (MI) in their first game of the season. Half-centuries from captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi took KKR to 220-4 in 20 overs. The bowlers then could not make much of an impact and MI chased down the score with five balls in hand.

SRH had an even tougher opening game against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Stand-in captain Ishan Kishan’s 80 pushed SRH to 201-9 but the score was easily chased down by RCB in just 15.4 overs.
