Pakistan's road to the 2025 Asia Cup final

Pakistan have had a somewhat bumpy ride compared to India, and had nearly boycotted their do-or-die Group A clash against UAE at point at the height of the handshake row. They also managed to scrape through to victory in their virtual semi-final against Bangladesh, in which they had been reduced to 33/4 at one point after being invited to bat.

What matters in the end is the fact that they have beaten all teams in this tournament except India, and will hope to overcome that final hurdle on Sunday. Here’s their journey so far in the Asia Cup:

– Defeated Oman by 93 runs (Group A)

– Lost to India by 7 wickets (Group A)

– Defeated UAE by 41 runs (Group A)

– Lost to India by 6 wickets (Super 4s)

– Defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets (Super 4s)

– Defeated Bangladesh by 11 runs (Super 4s).

Shoaib Akhtar believes Abhishek Sharma's wicket will be the key if Pakistan want to beat India

“We have to get Abhishek out; that’s it. We can accept a boundary off a good length ball, accept a boundary off a good ball, or a sharp bouncer. As a bowler, I’m telling you, even a great like Ricky Ponting can miss a powerful bouncer or a good length ball. It’s not like Abhishek will do something amazing. He has mistimed and mis-cued shots in this tournament. The moment Abhishek gets out in the first two overs, mark my words, India will also be in trouble. The good starts they are getting right now, after which they are having a ball of a time, will struggle as well if Abhishek gets out early. So, there will be pressure on them,” Shoaib Akhtar said.

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 Final LIVE Updates: Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has said that India should not drop Arshdeep Singh in the final

“I’ll say this even with my glasses on! Even if you wake me up from deep sleep, my answer won’t change: Arshdeep must play. How many runs will the number 8 batsman make? Not too many, and you don’t need that many. And for the World Cup in six months, work on Arshdeep’s batting, work on Varun Chakravarthy’s batting, Bumrah can already hit a bit, decent bat swing. India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 Final LIVE Updates: Welcome to our blog as we get ready to bring live action from Pakistan vs India final from Dubai

The Asia Cup 2025 ends today with the final between India and Pakistan. India are the only unbeaten side in the tournament, having defeated Pakistan twice in the competition already. This is the first time the India vs Pakistan final will be played in the Asia Cup in 41 years.

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup final LIVE Updates: The Asia Cup 2025 final will witness a blockbuster clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday (28 September). India lead Pakistan 2-0 in the Asia Cup 2025, having won the group stage contest by seven wickets and the Super 4 match by six wickets.

Pakistan have also not defeated the Indian cricket team in seven completed matches since 2022. The Asia Cup 2025 final could be a one-sided affair and India could very well defend their crown, but Pakistan are unpredictable.

Pakistan hopt to become 3rd time lucky vs India

With their backs against the wall, one can expect Pakistan to hit back as they look to become third-time lucky. This is also the first time India and Pakistan are going to face each other in an Asia Cup final in 41 years.

All of this should make for a thrilling contest and adding more drama to the affair is India’s no-handshake policy. They refused the handshakes in the last two matches with Pakistan players and the Men In Blue are expected to follow the same policy on Sunday. They also boycotted the captains’ photo shoot on Saturday.

Also, PCB head and ACC chairman MohsinNaqvi is set to present the winner’s trophy. In case India win the tournament, we can see more drama at the post-match presentation ceremony. Meanwhile, the BCCI officials are set to boycott the final .

Coming to the game. Dubai’s pitch has become better for batting lately, but teams may still prefer to bat second under lights. For India, Abhishek Sharma has been the biggest match-winner and Pakistan would hope to send him back early on.

Former Pakistan bowling greats have shared their tips with the current bowlers , and Indian batters would do well to not just rely on Sharma. Suryakumar, who has been out of form, would want to hit the winning runs today, as fans hope for another Asian Cup triumph.

The India vs Pakistan match will be live-streamed on SonyLIV and the FanCode app. The live broadcast will be available on Sony Sports Network TV channels.
