The customary pre-final trophy photo shoot ahead of the India vs Pakistan summit clash in the Asia Cup 2025 was reportedly cancelled due to captain Suryakumar Yadav’s refusal, while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally reacted to the news that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi will be handing the winner’s trophy.
The Asia Cup 2025 pre-final trophy photo shoot was to take place on Saturday in Dubai before the Sunday mega clash; however, the event did not take place due to Suryakumar’s refusal. Now, both captains may pose with the Asia Cup 2025 trophy before the final begins.
This will be the first Asia Cup final between India and Pakistan in the 41-year old history of the tournament. However, the 2025 edition has been one of the most controversial and intense, considering it’s happening just a few months after the Pahalgam terror attack and the Indian team has refused to shake hands with the Pakistani players in the previous two matches in the tournament.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha was also asked about another refusal by the Indian team, but the batter felt it was India’s call and the Men In Green are not bothered about that.
“They can do whatever they want. We have our protocol, and we’ll do that. Rest is up to them; if they want to come, then come, if they don’t want to come, then don’t come,” Salman said at the pre-match press conference.
Meanwhile, PCB head Naqvi, who is also the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), will be handing over the winner’s trophy to the Indian team if they win the final. Naqvi, who is also the Interior Minister in Pakistan, is known for his anti-India remarks and it would be interesting to see if the Indian team would boycott him on the stage.

The BCCI has so far not decided on the matter, with the Indian board expected to decide closer to the time.

Naqvi was recently also accused of mocking India by posting a video of Cristiano Ronaldo in which the footballer made the jet-downing gesture.
