The match is still not over yet, and Pakistan pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf could still make a match out of this with an early strike or two

Pakistan’s total of 146 certainly is underwhelming given their strong start, but might just prove enough if they are able to collect two or three wickets inside the powerplay, especially that of Abhishek Sharma – who’s in red-hot form at the moment.

India, on the other hand, will be in the driver’s seat if they are to begin the chase with another solid opening stand between Abhishek and Shubman Gill.

One moment up, the next moment down! Pakistan simply doing Pakistan things...

Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman put Pakistan in the driver’s seat with a superb 84-run opening stand, with the former doing especially well to put the Indian bowlers, especially the spinners, under pressure.

One could never rule the Indian spinners out though, not on this wicket that is conducive for spin and is somewhat tricky to bat on. Farhan’s dismissal was a silver lining for the Men in Blue, with Varun breaking the marathon stand. However, it was Ayub’s dismissal off Kuldeep’s bowling in the 13th over that truly opened the floodgates.

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup final LIVE Updates: The Asia Cup 2025 final will witness a blockbuster clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday (28 September). India lead Pakistan 2-0 in the Asia Cup 2025, having won the group stage contest by seven wickets and the Super 4 match by six wickets.

Pakistan have also not defeated the Indian cricket team in seven completed matches since 2022. The Asia Cup 2025 final could be a one-sided affair and India could very well defend their crown, but Pakistan are unpredictable.

Pakistan hopt to become 3rd time lucky vs India

With their backs against the wall, one can expect Pakistan to hit back as they look to become third-time lucky. This is also the first time India and Pakistan are going to face each other in an Asia Cup final in 41 years.

All of this should make for a thrilling contest and adding more drama to the affair is India’s no-handshake policy. They refused the handshakes in the last two matches with Pakistan players and the Men In Blue are expected to follow the same policy on Sunday. They also boycotted the captains' photo shoot on Saturday.

Also, PCB head and ACC chairman MohsinNaqvi is set to present the winner’s trophy. In case India win the tournament, we can see more drama at the post-match presentation ceremony. Meanwhile, the BCCI officials are set to boycott the final.

Coming to the game. Dubai’s pitch has become better for batting lately, but teams may still prefer to bat second under lights. For India, Abhishek Sharma has been the biggest match-winner and Pakistan would hope to send him back early on.

Former Pakistan bowling greats have shared their tips with the current bowlers, and Indian batters would do well to not just rely on Sharma. Suryakumar, who has been out of form, would want to hit the winning runs today, as fans hope for another Asian Cup triumph.

The India vs Pakistan match will be live-streamed on SonyLIV and the FanCode app. The live broadcast will be available on Sony Sports Network TV channels.
