India Test squad for West Indies 2025 Live Updates: The Indian squad for the two-Test series against West Indies in October is will be announced on Wednesday (24 September). The announcement will be made by the Ajit Agarkar-led Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee.
The selection meeting is expected to be done virtually, and a press conference could take place in Dubai.
There could be a few changes to the Indian Test squad that played in England, as Rishabh Pant is set to be rested after fracturing his toe in the fourth Test at Manchester. Dhruv Jurel is expected to be named the first-choice wicket-keeper.
Iyer to miss out, Padikkal could return
Also, there are speculations that Karun Nair may get dropped as he failed to put up a big score and seal his place in the Test squad. He could be replaced by Devdutt Padikkal. Shreyas Iyer is set to miss out after asking for a rest from red-ball cricket.
Another name that will be debated is that of Jasprit Bumrah, who has reportedly expressed interest in playing in the Test series that starts on 2 October at the Narendra Modi Stadium, despite the Asia Cup 2025 final being scheduled for 28 September in Dubai. The second India vs West Indies match will be played from 10 October at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
It will be Shubman Gill’s first Test series at home after being named the captain and also the first without the now retired R Ashwin, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
