India Test squad for West Indies 2025 Series Live Updates: The Indian squad for the two-Test series against West Indies in October is expected to be announced on Tuesday (23 September). The announcement will be made by the Ajit Agarkar-led Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee.
The selection meeting is expected to be done virtually, and no press conference has been arranged to make the announcement. We are expecting the announcement to be made through a media release.
There could be a few changes to the Indian Test squad that played in England, as Rishabh Pant is set to be rested after fracturing his toe in the fourth Test at Manchester. Dhruv Jurel is expected to be named the first-choice wicket-keeper.
BCCI selectors to drop Karun Nair?
Also, there are speculations that Karun Nair may get dropped as he failed to put up a big score and seal his place in the Test squad. He could be replaced by either Shreyas Iyer or Devdutt Padikkal.
Another name that will be debated is that of Jasprit Bumrah, who could be rested at least for the first Test that starts on 2 October at the Narendra Modi Stadium to manage his workload as the Asia Cup 2025 final is scheduled for 28 September in Dubai. The second India vs West Indies match will be played from 10 October at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
It will be Shubman Gill’s first Test series at home after being named the captain and also the first without the now retired R Ashwin, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
