Rohit Sharma was in disbelief as he was given out caught behind in the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur after a review by the Proteas. Burger dismissed Rohit for 14 off eight balls in the fifth over after a scrappy start.
The left-arm pacer managed to get the length ball to move away just a bit to catch the outside edge of Rohit’s bat. However, in real time, nothing was conclusive.

In fact, Burger did not even appeal initially, and it was only the wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock who felt Rohit had edged the ball. De Kock convinced skipper Temba Bavuma to take the DRS, and the UltraEdge proved that the ball had nicked the bat on its way to the keeper.
Rohit appeared surprised after the decision was given as out on review. However, when the ball went past his bat, Rohit was seen quickly turning his head back and checking for the catch, suggesting that he was well aware of nicking it.
While the fans would be disappointed to see Rohit return to the dugout this early, his dismissal brought Virat Kohli to the middle. Having scored a match-winning 135 in Ranchi, Kohli would hope to play another big innings in Raipur.
Rohit misses out on batting milestone
Meanwhile, Rohit missed out on completing 20,000 runs in international cricket. He would now try to achieve the feat in the last ODI.
He started the series 98 runs short of the elusive 20000-run mark in international cricket. Only 13 batters, including three Indians – Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli have achieved the milestone.
After slamming 57 in the Ranchi ODI, Rohit was only 41 runs short. He scored 14 in Raipur and would need to accumulate at least 27 runs more in the final match of the series at Vishakhapatnam to get to the landmark.
