The full fixtures list for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 that will be taking place next year was unveiled by the International Cricket Council on Tuesday, with co-hosts and defending champions India facing arch-rivals Pakistan on 15 February in Colombo.
India and Pakistan have been retained in the same group in yet another major tournament despite a complete breakdown in relations between the two nations after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam in April, which was followed by a four-day armed conflict between the two nations.
The upcoming showdown will be the first time the two arch-rivals face each other since the T20 Asia Cup in the UAE in September, in which India had defeated Pakistan thrice in as many meetings. And given how India have dominated this rivalry in recent years, they will be entering the upcoming showdown – which will be taking place at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium – as the strong favourites.
The 10th edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup will mark the second consecutive time the tournament features 20 teams, with Italy set to make their first appearance in a major cricketing event a little over two months from now. The teams are divided into four groups of five teams each, with India and Pakistan placed in Group A alongside 2024 co-hosts USA as well as the Netherlands and Namibia.
