Here is all that will take place today.

Trump to meet South Korean President

US President Donald Trump will be travelling to South Korea today as part of his Asia Tour. During his visit to South Korea, he will also hold a bilateral meeting with President Lee Jae Myung.

He will also meet leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) and speak at a luncheon. He will also participate in a US-Apec leaders working dinner, stated White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt.

The meeting follows several important developments in US-South Korea relations. Since taking office in May this year, President Lee has taken a more conciliatory approach to relations with North Korea, in contrast to his predecessor’s hardline stance.

Amit Shah to address rallies in Bihar

Ahead of the Bihar elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in addressing rallies in Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur. These rallies are part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) push to consolidate support in the state, with the election process taking place in multiple phases.

The campaign has intensified, with key leaders from both the NDA and the opposition Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) holding rallies across the state. Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also launched the NDA’s campaign in Bihar.

General election in the Netherlands

The Netherlands will hold a general election on October 29 after the previous government collapsed.

In June 2025, the far-right Party for Freedom (PVV), led by Geert Wilders, withdrew from the governing coalition. The move was prompted by disagreements over Wilders’ proposed hardline asylum policies, which included border patrols by the military.

The four-party coalition, which formed after Wilders’ party won the most seats in the November 2023 election, was characterised by internal instability and deep ideological divides.

PM Modi in Mumbai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Mumbai to address the Maritime Leaders Conclave and chair the Global Maritime CEO Forum at India Maritime Week (IMV) 2025. The event is set to take place at the Nesco Exhibition Centre at around 4 pm.

Key topics on the agenda include sustainable maritime growth, resilient supply chains, green shipping, and the inclusive blue economy.
