Apple has joined the $4 trillion club, becoming the third Big Tech company to hit the milestone, as the launch of the new iPhone series revamped its sales like never before. Behind its success journey is India’s remarkable push for the manufacturing and production of Apple products, which has surpassed exports to the US over those of China.
The company’s shares rose 0.2 per cent to a record $269.2, bringing total gains to about 13 per cent since the September 9 launch. Analysts said the latest models’ success, particularly in the US and China, has boosted Apple’s outlook despite earlier worries over tariffs and competition from Chinese rivals.
The ultra-slim iPhone Air has won positive reviews, while iPhone 17 sales have outpaced the previous model by 14 per cent, according to Counterpoint Research. Brokerage Evercore ISI expects the strong demand to help Apple beat quarterly forecasts and issue an upbeat projection for the December quarter.
Apple in India
Indian facilities are now assembling the latest iPhone models at the Foxconn and Tata-run Pegatron units. A significant portion of the production is geared toward fulfilling rising demand in the US and Europe, while also serving India’s expanding smartphone market, sources told Moneycontrol.
Hon Hai, a Foxconn subsidiary, has ramped up operations at its newest plant in Bengaluru, which started trial runs of Apple’s latest model back in April. The facility has already become India’s largest iPhone factory by production capacity. Despite its scale far exceeding that of other local suppliers like Tata Electronics, Wistron (now under Tata), and Pegatron, sources emphasised that its output will ultimately be driven by global iPhone demand.
India’s smartphone exports up by 60%
India’s mobile phone exports surged by 60 per cent in the first half of the current fiscal year, reaching $13.5 billion in shipments from April to September FY26, up from $8.5 billion during the same period in FY25. The feat was led by Apple’s iPhone, which has set a new record for exports with the launch of iPhone 17 this September.
After iPhone 17s hit the shelves in September this year, shipments from India moved up by 95 per cent on total export of $1.8 billion, as per data provided by the India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA).

Apple’s drive to expand its manufacturing presence in India is gaining momentum, with reports indicating that AirPods production is set to double as Foxconn ramps up its audio manufacturing operations in Hyderabad.
According to The Economic Times, Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT) is preparing to increase capacity at its Kongara Kalan facility. The plant, which began mass-producing AirPods in April 2025, currently turns out more than 100,000 pairs each month.
Under the new plan, monthly output is expected to rise to about 200,000 units within the next six to eight months, effectively doubling production by early 2026.
