Kangana Ranaut said no to playing the leading lady opposite THIS Tollywood actor

At the moment, the Queen actress is busy promoting her next, Chandramukhi 2. Speaking during a promotional event for the film, the diva opened up about turning down the opportunity to work with Tollywood heartthrob Mahesh Babu. Yes, you heard it right! The actress revealed that she was offered the role of leading lady in the 2006 Telugu blockbuster Pokiri.

Why Did Kangana Ranaut Turn Down Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri?

During the conversation, Kangana Ranaut candidly admitted that she still regrets letting go of the chance to be part of Puri Jagannath’s directorial. The Manikarnika actress also fondly called Puri Jagannath “a very nice person” during the interaction. The stunner mentioned that the director not only recognised her potential but also predicted her massive rise in the film industry.

Back in 2005, Kangana Ranaut was forced to make a tough career decision as she had to choose between her debut movie Gangster and Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri. She picked the former and said goodbye to the Telugu drama, the rest as they say is history.

The role was later offered to Ileana D’Cruz, who became an overnight star in South, thanks to the overwhelming success of Pokiri. Taking the box office by storm, the action-entertainer managed to mint a total of Rs 70 crore worldwide. Pokiri revolves around the life of a police officer who goes by the name of Krishna (Mahesh Babu). In order to curb the underworld, he disguises himself as a thug and joins them. Simultaneously, he falls for an aerobics teacher Shruti (Ileana D’Cruz).

What’s Next For Kangana Ranaut?

Talking about Kangana Ranaut’s professional lineup, she will be seen essaying the role of the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the biographical historical drama, Emergency. The movie is a cinematic adaptation of the infamous Indian emergency.

Aside from this, she will also be a part of movies like Chandramukhi 2 and Tejas.
