After three months of competition and millions of audience votes, 10-year-old Anjana Padmanabhan from Bangalore is the first winner of the singing reality show Indian Idol Junior. She has beaten 86 contestants from across India to win this title.
“Although we were competing against each other, we were like a family filled with unique characters and had our moments of joy and sorrow. I am thrilled,” Anjana said in a statement in Mumbai on Sunday.
Anjana received a prize money of Rs 25 lakh from Sony Entertainment Television, a Nissan Micra Car, a fixed deposit of Rs. 5 lakhs from Kotak and Rs. 2 lakh from Horlicks.
“All I can say is a big heartfelt thank you for liking me and helping me achieve my dream,” she said.
A Bangalore girl, Anjana doesn’t speak Hindi, but it didn’t stop her from singing Hindi songs so beautifully that audiences from all over the country were won over.
