There’s a new obsession in the entertainment world and that seems to be the Ozempic drug. It’s supposedly a drug that helps you lose weight, but when dug deeper, it’s a medicine that can manage diabetes.
Ali Fazal from the Hindi film industry became the first actor to advise everyone not to to use this drug. Taking to his Instagram stories, he shared an article on the side effects of Ozempic and said, “Been hearing that a lot of people are on this to lose weight……plz plz plz click on the link below and forgodsakes STOP!!!!!!"
Maheep Kapoor did the same on the recent episode of Netflix’s ‘Fabulous lives vs Bollywood Lives’ and one user wrote on Instagram “Maheep rightly called out people for using Ozempic for fast weight loss and driving it out of stock for people with diabetes. Hope she calls out Karan Johar too, the producer of Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives.”
And this is how the filmmaker reacted, “Being healthy and eating well and reinventing the wheel of your own nutrition! Aur Ozempic ko Mile credit ???” Tagging Maheep, he asked, “Did you mean me???”
Not only Fazal, Hollywood stars like Sophie Turner , Khloe Kardashian, and Amy Schumer have also discussed about the use of this drug for loosing weight and how it can be more harmful than useful.
What is Ozempic ?
The once-a-week medication called ‘Hollywood’s worst kept secret’ is also rumoured to be behind the weight loss of Kim and Khloe Kardashian. Last year in November, billionaire Elon Musk credited the drug for his dramatic weight loss.
This is basically injectable drug for adults suffering from type 2 diabetes. It helps in regulating blood sugar levels and insulin.
Is it safe?
Experts say Ozempic is a safe medication but not for everyone.
The drug can also reduce chances of heart attacks and strokes, Fatima Cody Stanford, an obesity medicine physician-scientist at Massachusetts General Hospital, said as per Forbes Health.
