We all know that Julian Fellowes’s Downton Abbey is one of the oldest, finest and greatest television soaps ever written. Laced with family politics, powerplay, infidelity, the film just like the series has it all to be a source of solid entertainment. Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale movie is an emotional yet confident parting note.
Like all good things must come to an end, so does Julian Fellowes’s Downton Abbey say their final good bye with utmost grace and in style. When this series was launched in 2010, nobody knew that it would be so hugely popular not only in England, but globally too. It was one of the most loved and watched series which spoke unapologetically about the inner workings of an aristocratic post-Edwardian family, the Crawleys, and their staff.
The best thing about the film is when we get a glimpse of how the staff members are treated with grace, love and most importantly dignity by the Edwardian family which is a rarity in many rich, aristocratic families globally. The family too has gone through several ups and downs, but the members and their staff handled it all with grace when it came to throwing parties and dinners. Not just lavish when it came to the hospitality of the family, the warmth is what mattered the most to them.
Downton Abbey is not only the most loved drama by the audience, but is also a celebration of fantastic British storytelling for its grace, wit and for its enduring emotion. The most standout quality of Downton Abbey is the story and the way the characters are weaved. Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is indeed an emotional goodbye to all the beloved characters of television. These stories of Downton Abbey will indeed live on forever.
