Two of the most highly-anticipated films,
_The Accidental Prime Minister_ and Vicky Kaushal-starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike , released on 11 January. The Anupam Kher film recorded a collection of Rs 4.50 crore on the opening day. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted that the film picked up pace in the latter part of the day. On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam’s action film Uri: The Surgical Strike amassed Rs 8.20 crore on its first day, with a possibility of an upward growth during the weekend.

However, with two Bollywood films and five South movies — Petta , NTR Kathanayakudu , Viswasam , F2 and _Vinaya Vidheya Rama_ , the earnings of Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster cop-entertainer Simmba took a hit. The film managed to rake Rs 2.60 crore on Friday, and has earned a total of Rs 215.03 crore since its release.
