Ranbir Kapoor’s highly-anticipated Ramayana continues to grab the attention of cinema enthusiasts with several talented stars coming on board to play the distinct roles. The film is back in the news. This time comes a disappointing update for the actor’s fans as the film is likely to be delayed.
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The project is on. But not this year. There are too many internal issues to be resolved.” The report also claimed that costumes are also another reason for the delay. “The costumes are not ‘lavish’ enough,” the report mentioned. Nitesh and Ranbir are yet to address the claims.
Also, the producer of the film Madhu Mantena has reportedly backed out of the project.
The Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial was being co-produced by Allu Aravind and Madhu Mantena. However, as per a report by Siasat, Mantena has stepped back from his role as a producer now. While the producer’s decision made headlines, the reason behind the same is yet to be confirmed. Notably, the makers are yet to officially confirm Mantena’s alleged decision.
With Mantena backing out of the project, Namit Malhotra, the CEO of DNEG—an Oscar-winning VFX company has been reported to be a part of Ramayana’s production. The VFX company, earlier, produced several blockbuster films including Oppenheimer, E Machina, Interstellar, Dune, and First Man among others.
In Nitesh Tiwari’s _Ramayana_ , Ranbir Kapoor will be essaying the role of Lord Ram. He will be joined by Sai Pallavi who has been roped in for the role of Goddess Sita. Notably, Sai replaced Alia Bhatt to play Goddess Sita in the film. However, she backed out due to dates-related issues. In what created the most buzz around the cast of the film, KGF star Yash is speculated to play Ravana in the movie with Sunny Deol also joining the cast to play the role of Hanuman. Additionally, Bobby Deol and Vijay Sethupathi are also reportedly in talks to play the role of Kumbhakarna and Vibhashana respectively.
