Ranbir Kapoor to be seen in minimalistic, lean avatar in Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana' to play Lord Ram

After proving his mettle in films like Animal and Brahmastra: Part 1 – Shiva, Ranbir Kapoor is all set to take on another challenge. He will be playing the character of Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. With only a few days left for the shooting to commence, the makers are busy finalising the actor’s look for the character. If reports are to be believed, Ranbir recently underwent a look test for his portrayal of Lord Ram. As per a report published by India Today, the makers recently held a photoshoot for Ranbir’s look test. A source told the portal that Nitesh wants Ranbir to maintain his lean avatar, instead of gaining muscles, for the role of Lord Ram. Sources further suggested that the Animal actor’s bare-bodied look wearing golden and gem-studded ornaments seemingly impressed everyone and has been finalised. While significant preparations are underway for the characters of Sai Pallavi, Rakul Preet Singh, and others, the director is leaving no stone unturned to keep it minimalistic and simple for Ranbir Kapoor’s character. Earlier this month, reports suggested that Ranbir would also undergo voice and diction training for the film. “Ranbir has a certain baritone and a way of speaking his lines. It is symbolic and if you have even closed your eyes, you can recognise a dialogue purely based on Ranbir’s voice,” India Today quoted a source as saying. “In Ramayana, Nitesh wants to make sure Ranbir sounds different from the characters he’s played in the past. Being a versatile actor, Ranbir is enjoying this process of trying something new.” Notably, Sai Pallavi will play the role of Sita in the most anticipated film, whereas KGF star Yash is likely to play Ravana in the movie. Additionally, Sunny Deol has reportedly been roped in for the role of Hanuman. Meanwhile, Bobby Deol and Vijay Sethupathi are expected to come on board to play Kumbhakarna and Vibhishana respectively.
