Rahat Fateh Ali Khan on assaulting his disciple: 'I accept I thrashed him but the truth is...'

Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has recently made headlines after his video of assaultng his domestic help has gone viral on social media.

The singer has now released a video where he rendered an apology and also revealed what actually happened between them. Khan said in the video- “He is my protege and I accepted that I scolded and trashed him. Later I apologised. Till this point, it was fine but people are making fun of it. But the truth is he had my holy water with him. People are not understanding the intensity of the situation. It’s a very serious matter for me as it involves my spiritual guide.” The singer released another video prior to his latest one issuing his clarification as to why the physical assault happened and what really transpired that led him to assault his disciple. He said, “This is about a personal issue between an ustad and shagird. He is like my son. This is how the relation is between a teacher and his disciple. If a disciple does something good, I shower my love on him. If he does something wrong, he is punished.” The man who was beaten up revealed he misplaced a bottle containing holy water because of which the incident happened. “”He’s like my father. He loves us a lot. Whoever spread this video is trying to defame my ustad,” he said. Back in 2019,  Khan  was charged with smuggling foreign currency out of India, reported News18. The Enforcement Directorate issued him a show-cause notice under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999, asking him to join the probe.
