The singer then released a video issuing his clarification as to why the physical assault happened and what really transpired that led him to assault his disciple. He said, “This is about a personal issue between an ustad and shagird. He is like my son. This is how the relation is between a teacher and his disciple. If a disciple does something good, I shower my love on him. If he does something wrong, he is punished.” The man who was beaten up revealed he misplaced a bottle containing holy water because of which the incident happened. ““He’s like my father. He loves us a lot. Whoever spread this video is trying to defame my ustad,” he said.

Back in 2019, Khan was charged with smuggling foreign currency out of India, reported News18. The Enforcement Directorate issued him a show-cause notice under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999, asking him to join the probe. According to Times Now, the singer had been smuggling out of the country for over three years. This was Khan’s second brush with revenue intelligence agents as in 2011, he was detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi for allegedly carrying a huge amount of undeclared foreign currency. Two other persons accompanying him had also been detained.
