Nawazuddin Siddiqui is presently among the most talked about character actors in Bollywood. He starred in Kahaani, the film that surprised the box office pundits by grossing over 100 crore worldwide and is on screens again this Friday in Anurag Kashyup’s Gangs of Wasseypur.
But for the actor, being a high-profile star is boring.
“Being a star is very boring. There is a lot of repetition once you become a star,” Siddiqui told CNN-IBN in an exclusive interview.
After playing a short tempered intelligence official in Kahaani, Siddiqui plays a member of the coal mafia in Gangs of Wasseypur.
“Its better to be a actor. Every character has to be portrayed in a different manner. The process is full of difficulties and hence very challenging and exciting,” he said.
Siddiqui’s work has also been noticed on the international circuit. Miss Lovely , a film directed by Ashim Ahluwalia, was screened at the Cannes this year along with Gangs of Wasseypur.
“If I would have been a star, I would have to play similar 35 roles and only take care of my body language,” he joked.
