It’s almost there, the grand debuts of Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, Sridevi’s saughter Khushi Kapoor, Dot, and Vedant Raina. The debut vehicle is Zoya Akhtar and Netflix’s The Archies. And before the debuts happened, the actors spoke about playing their respective characters and recreating the comic-book world on the screen. Suhana Khan
Suhana Khan steps into the world of acting by stepping into the world of The Archies. In one of the most crucial songs of the film Sunoh, she can be skating with fluidity and effortless ease. Taking about it in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, she said, “We were training for 5-6 months before we started filming it.” When asked about choosing Zoya Akhtar and Netflix’s film as her debut, she said, “It was about finding my feet as an actor.” She added, “To be able to have the opportunity to be a part of The Archies streaming on a global platform like Netflix and to work under a filmmaker like Zoya Akhtar was the best learning ground I could I’ve asked for.” When asked about her character Veronica Lodge and the way she’s styled, and if there’s any similar between the two, Khan said, “There’s definitely an overlap, there was a scene in the film where I wore my own personal outfit Agastya Nanda
Agastya Nanda mentioned the only thing in common between Archie and his real self is that they both love music. He added that music helps him to deal with a lot of emotions. “I wouldn’t call myself a casanova. Something that we do share in common is our love for music, because it helps you deal with a lot of emotions and that’s where we are kind of similar, and yes, I am definitely not a casanova,” Agastya said. He went on to add that it was not him who chose The Archies, but Zoya Akhtar who chose them. The Archies will release on 7 December and stream on Netflix in 190 countries. “Being on Netflix is such an exciting opportunity, being streamed in 190 countries at once. I find it so exciting. I couldn’t have asked for a better team of people to work with. These guys over here have become my best friends and we hang out a lot, actually a bit too much,” Agastya noted. Khushi Kapoor
Khushi Kapoor (who plays Betty) spoke about the world of Riverdale and what it’s all about. “Reading the script and coming to the sets was a really surreal experience. It was like a comic book coming to life, it was colorful, it was vibrant, and you’ll see that when you watch the film.,” Khushi said. On creating her character of Betty, she revealed, “We all were cast because there were a lot of similarities between the characters and us, so it was great to work with Zoya and find different layers of our characters.” Vedang Raina
Vedang Raina who essays the role of Reggie Mantle, said, “It was surreal to see a comic book come alive. The art department really smashed it. The Archies is loved my so many people around the world and I also used to read the comic books a little bit as a kid. My parents are also a big fan of the comics. Dot
Dot, who plays Ethel Muggs, revealed she had to pour her soul and jump into the world of The Archies. She also said director Zoya Akhtar was following her music secretly when she approached her for this Netflix film.
