Police investigating the disappearance of starlet Laila Khan, have said that she was killed along with her family in a forested area around 150km out of Mumbai. Police had been interrogating her husband Pervez Tak, who had initially told them that the actress had fled the country.

However television reports say that he has now said that she was killed on the orders of her step father Asif Shaikh, over a property dispute.

Previous reports indicated that Khan had been spotted in Dubai, and that she had fled the country due to terror links. Despite reports however, police in Jammu & Kashmir denied that Laila along with her friends had done a reconnaissance of Mumbai and compiled a list of places and maps.

The Mumbai police had registered a kidnapping case against the starlet’s stepfather Asif Shaikh and husband Parvez Tak on Wednesday.

Police will now travel to the area where Laila Khan is said to have been killed in an effort to establish the veracity of Tak’s claims. Tak is claiming that he had nothing to do with the murder and only found out about it, although police say that they are not inclined to ruling him out.

Laila, along with six other family members, including her mother Shelina Patel, elder sister Hazmina, twin siblings Zara and Imran, and a relative, were allegedly kidnapped by Tak from their Mumbai residence in January 2011. The Pakistani born actress first came into the limelight opposite Rajesh Khanna in the 2008 film Waafa.
