Kristen Stewart will be portraying the iconic actress Jean Seberg in the upcoming movie Against All Enemies.

The movie, which boasts of an all-star cast, will be a political thriller and is being directed by Benedict Andrews (known for the movie 2016 movie Una  starring Rooney Mara). The story of the movie is inspired by true events in the life of the actress Jean Seberg, a popular figure in the the 60's. Seberg was illegally targeted by the FBI surveillance program COINTELPRO because of her support of the Black Panther Party.

Against All Enemies will also be starring Jack O’Connell, Anthony Mackie, Margaret Qualley and Colm Meaney. The original script has been written by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse (The Aftermath, Edge Of Tomorrow 2), and the shooting for the movie will begin this summer.

Even though Seberg was an American actress, she spent half her life in France and was a darling of the French New Wave. She was politically and romantically involved with civil rights activist Hakim Jamal and became a target of the FBI’s attempts to disrupt and discredit the Black Power movement. Jack O’Connell will be seen playing the role of a young FBI agent assigned to track her movements. Anthony Mackie will be playing a civil rights activist.

Kirsten Stewart — who is still perhaps best known for her role in the Twilight franchise — herself has garnered widespread critical acclaim in French cinema recently. Stewart is the only American actress ever to win a César Award (France's equivalent of the Oscars) for her role in the movie Clouds Of Sils Maria directed by Olivier Assayas. She has also starred in the 2016 French movie Personal Shopper.

Seberg acted in dozens of films including Saint Joan, Bonjour Tristesse, Breathless, and The Mouse That Roared. She died in France in 1979 and the cause of her death was declared a suicide.
