There’s a new obsession in the entertainment world and that seems to be the Ozempic drug. It’s supposedly a drug that helps you lose weight, but when dug deeper, it’s a medicine that can manage diabetes.
Titanic star Kate Winslet recently said in a statement that the use of the drug sounded terrible. “Let’s eat some more things,” Winslet said. The actress was recently speaking to The New York Times Magazine, and confessed she didn’t know what the drug was exactly used for.
She added, “All I know is that it’s some pill that people are taking or something like that.”
Ali Fazal from the Hindi film industry has become the first actor to advise everyone not to to use this drug. Taking to his Instagram stories, he shared an article on the side effects of Ozempic and said, “Been hearing that a lot of people are on this to lose weight……plz plz plz click on the link below and forgodsakes STOP!!!!!!"
Not only Fazal, Hollywood stars like Sophie Turner , Khloe Kardashian, and Amy Schumer have also discussed about the use of this drug for loosing weight and how it can be more harmful than useful.
What is Ozempic ?
The once-a-week medication called ‘Hollywood’s worst kept secret’ is also rumoured to be behind the weight loss of Kim and Khloe Kardashian. Last year in November, billionaire Elon Musk credited the drug for his dramatic weight loss.
This is basically injectable drug for adults suffering from type 2 diabetes. It helps in regulating blood sugar levels and insulin.
Is it safe?
Experts say Ozempic is a safe medication but not for everyone.
The drug can also reduce chances of heart attacks and strokes, Fatima Cody Stanford, an obesity medicine physician-scientist at Massachusetts General Hospital, said as per Forbes Health.
