Karthi, Rakul Preet Singh to reunite for romcom after Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru's success
Following a successful outing in director Vinoth's critically and commercially acclaimed investigative thriller Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, Karthi and Rakul Preet are now teaming up for an untitled rom-com. The formal pooja ceremony for the film was held today morning in Chennai with Suriya and Sivakumar presiding over the event as chief guests.
The movie marks the directorial debut of Rajath Ravishankar, an erstwhile associate of ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. Rajath will also earn the credits for story, screenplay and dialogues. The film, which marks Karthi's 17th project as lead hero, will be jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment and Lakshman Kumar's Prince Pictures, known for bankrolling Suriya's blockbuster Singam 2. Trisha's horror thriller Mohini directed by Madhesh would be the next release of Prince Pictures.
Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishnan, RJ Vignesh, Amrutha and Renuka form the supporting cast of the film which will also feature a special guest appearance from veteran actor Karthik, who was last seen in Suriya-Vignesh Shivan's heist thriller Thaanaa Serndha Koottam. "It will be a breezy romantic comedy. Karthi plays a youngster in the film and has shed some extra kilos for his makeover," a source from the team told Firstpost.
The principal shooting of this yet-untitled film is scheduled to begin on 8 March in Chennai followed by a 15-day schedule in Europe. The team will also important portions of the film in Hyderabad, Mumbai and a few regions of the Himalayas.
Harris Jayaraj has been roped in to compose music for the film. "Harris has already finished composing a major part of his work. He was part of the recce team along with the director and composed a few songs for the album from the locations where the film would be shot," the source added.
The makers have assembled a fine technical crew comprising of R Velraj for cinematography, Vivegam and Mersal-fame editor Ruben, Jayashri Narayanan for art direction and Anbariv for stunt choreography.
Rakul Preet is presently shooting for director Selvaraghavan-Suriya's untitled film and will join the team after completing her portions.
Karthi is currently on the verge of completing his family drama Kadaikutty Singam which is being helmed by National Award-winning filmmaker Pandiraj. Extensively shot in and around Tenkasi, Kadaikutty Singam is produced by Suriya's home banner 2D Entertainment. Karthi plays a passionate farmer in the film and sports a handlebar moustache for his role.
