Some of the highlights of the eight episode of Nach Baliye are: Popular television actress and contestant Divyanka Tripathi’s comeback after a week, Malaika Arora Khan stepping into Sonakshi Sinha’s shoes as the judge (only for this weekend) and presence of the main lead of upcoming release Half Girlfriend, Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.
The episode kick-started with Aashka Goradia and her boyfriend Brent’s performance where they unleashed their salsa skills as they danced on Chammaak Challo from Shah Rukh Khan-Kareena Kapoor’s Ra.One.
The audience and judges quite loved their act, however, it was felt that the form took precedence over the couple’s chemistry. While judge Terence Lewis praised Aashka for her footwork and strength that is required in salsa dance form, Malaika was generous in comparing Brent with Shah Rukh’s dance performance in the movie. Arjun described it as easy, simple and beautiful. “I felt it was done by two people in love,” said Arjun.
Further, it was Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya’s act with the former playing an autistic child-woman which came as a huge surprise for her fans who have never seen her in this avatar. Their emotional and heart – wrenching act was loosely inspired from 1983 Kamal Haasan-Sridevi tear-jerker, Sadma and the couple attempted to recreate the entire film in three minutes. Perhaps, they could do it successfully, as the judges, who were left teary eyed, immediately connected with the act and it brought back the memories of the film. Divyanka, who performed with her waist-belt on, said that the choreography was planned in such a way that the pressure didn’t come on her back. It may be recalled that she had taken a break last week due to her back injury and Vivek had performed solo.
But it was Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal who were undoubtedly the best performers of the day; their sensuous act stunned everyone, so much so that Malaika held a placard with ‘Wow’ written on it as soon as their performance came to an end. With Holi festival in the backdrop, the couple put up the most sexy dance performance on the song, ‘Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein’ with plenty of sensuous moves, body roll and colour play. Terence felt that their performance was more like a movie. Mona Lisa and Vikrant Rajput were the last to perform and they entertained everyone with their hip-hop style of dancing, with the right combination of relaxed and aggressive moves. However, they scored the least whereas Sanaya-Mohit and Vivek-Divyanka scored the highest points.
Further, Arjun, who plays a Bihari character in his upcoming release joined Mona Lisa-Vikrant on stage, and after mouthing some Hindi film dialogues in Bihari style, the trio gave an energetic performance on the Bhojpuri song, Tu lagawelu jab lipastick. Earlier, Arjun and Shraddha grooved on the romantic number Baarish and there were also some fun moments with the dance competition and face off between two teams: judge Mohit Suri and Bharti Singh versus Arjun and Shraddha.
