Arjun Kapoor 'mimicked' Anil Kapoor for Ishaqzaade audition, Aditya Chopra was 'impressed'

Arjun Kapoor fans are aware of the fact that the handsome hunk of Bollywood has worked as an assistant director on many big films before making his acting debut. Arjun Kapoor made his venture into acting with YRF’s 2012 film Ishaqzaade alongside Parineeti Chopra. While the film is still counted among his best performances, not many know that Arjun bagged the role based on his first audition and that it has a connection with his uncle, actor Anil Kapoor.

Recently, an old video from Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan went viral showing Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh as guests on the popular chat show. The two stars were also seen sharing the couch with the casting director of Yash Raj Films and spilling quite a few beans about their projects.

When Arjun Kapoor mimicked Anil Kapoor for his first audition

During their arrival on the show, the YRF casting director recalled the time when she spoke to Aditya Chopra about Arjun Kapoor’s audition for the lead role. When asked about how she convinced the YRF boss for Arjun’s role, she revealed that he was selected based on his first audition.

“But actually, the thing that impressed Adi the most was Arjun’s impersonation of his chacha. So, he did the whole scene like Anil Kapoor and even imitated Salman,” she said leaving Johar quite excited. As the filmmaker asked him to recreate the audition on the show, Arjun sportingly mimicked his uncle and said, “Anil uncle would be like ‘Chaiwala, what a player!’ And I can’t say the other abusive words. You know what words Anil uncle uses, right?”

Having made his debut almost a decade ago, Arjun Kapoor has worked in many well-acclaimed films like Gunday, 2 States, Half Girlfriend, and _Ki & Ka_, among others. He was recently seen in The Lady Killer last year and will be next seen in the film Meri Patni Ka Remake followed by Rohit Shetty’s action movie Singham Again.
