Back to School with Kanan and Biswa: This AIB video is a rib-tickling take on a grave issue

On the latest edition of On Air with AIB, All India Bakchod (AIB) introduced the ‘Off Script’ segment, which involves a freewheeling group discussion on a burning issue.

Since AIB had been getting a lot of messages from students on why they are pushing out new videos during the exam season, they decided to host the former Pretentious Reviews guys Kanan Gill and Biswa Kalyan Rath for a throwback to their school days.

The most interesting aspect of this Back To School segment was that all six participants - Kanan, Biswa, Tanmay Bhat, Ashish Shakya, Rohan Joshi and Gursimran Khamba - belong to different educational backgrounds and parts of the country. While a majority of them studied in Mumbai, though from different boards, Biswa’s anecdotes about his Odisha school brought a fresh voice to the discussion.

He recalled a hilarious practice from school when the English teacher used to merely translate the text into Oriya as his method of instruction rather than explaining its context.

All six of them touched upon a myriad range of subjects like cheating in exams (with a nostalgic reference to ‘Flying Squads’, the external body cracking down on the menace of cheating), the deciding factor known as the fifth subject, shift of colleges towards autonomous status from being university-affiliated and the resistance among students. All the guys provided rib-tickling insights, barring Kanan who remained quiet for a large chunk of the show.

But towards the end, he chose to break that silence. He narrated arguably the best anecdote of the show about how his engineering classmates killed their Head of Department via the law of attraction.
