According to People.com, Adams landed a nomination for HBO's Sharp Objects as well as her supporting role in Vice. Blunt scored in both supporting and leading categories for A Quiet Place and Mary Poppins Returns while Stone got a nomination for Maniac and for her work in The Favourite.

Stone's co-actor Rachel Weisz in The Favourite also received a nomination for a supporting role. New York Times writes, that for the best actress categories, other nominees are: Glenn Close for The Wife, Olivia Colman for The Favourite, Lady Gaga for A Star is Born and Melissa McCarthy for Can You Ever Forgive Me?

It was noticed by many social media users that there was a lack of representation of women of colour in the nominations. Only Sandra Oh bagged a nomination for her the television series, Killing Eve.

The 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place on 27 January in Los Angeles.

Although less high-profile than the Golden Globes, the SAG awards are seen as more of an indicator of Oscars glory, since members represent some 1,200 of the roughly 6,000 voters for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
