Bollywood actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar, well known for playing villainous roles onscreen, was allegedly thrashed by the residents of a housing society in suburban Mumbai after he pointed out that they had been wasting water during Holi celebrations.
Media reports claimed that that a rain dance party was organised at Panchavati building in his neighbourhood, which the actor told the journalist of a local TV channel. Amrapurkar reportedly wanted the local channel to show the rain dance party as an instance of water wastage and the insensitivity of people during the festival despite the fact that some parts of the state is facing one of the worst droughts.
However, when the channel went to cover the event, the residents of the society not only assaulted the video journalist and took away the video, but also thrashed and threatened the Bollywood actor.
“They thrashed the cameraperson and stole the video. I was pushed and threatened,” Amrapurkar told CNN IBN .
Several Bollywood actors this year have not only appealed for a dry Holi but also have celebrated one.
Amitabh Bachchan urged his fans to save water this festival of colours as Maharastra faces water shortage. Similarly, Hrithik Roshan also stayed away from Holi celebrations in view of the prevailing water shortage in the state.
