Aamir Khan’s last release, _Laal Singh Chaddha_ turned out to be a box office failure. In an interaction at ABP Ideas of India Summit 3.0, he finally broke silence on the film’s underperformance and revealed, “It’s a film close to my heart. Advait, Kareena and the whole cast and crew worked hard and it didn’t do well. Two things happened, after a long time my film didn’t work, so family and friends would come home to ask me, ‘If I’m okay?’ I realised that I’m getting a lot of love after a flop. That was the funny side of it.”
The actor added, “I gave it a lot of thought, it was a big learning for me. I remember telling Kiran once, ‘I made so many mistakes in this film on so many levels. Thank God I made these mistakes in just one film. Emotionally, I’m hurt that the film has not worked, I’ve taken time to absorb the grief.”
Kareena Kapoor on the film’s failure
During a recent conversation with Mid-Day, the leading lady of the film, Kareena Kapoor opened up on the debacle of the ambitious project.
Kapoor revealed that as she met Aamir Khan at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, Mr Perfectionist seemed ‘apologetic and dejected’ regarding the box office result of Laal Singh Chaddha. The diva revealed that she told him through WhatsApp that according to her, they have not lost as they have made a beautiful film and their friendship and love shall not be measured by box office success.
